Our motivation

In the fashion industry, trends and prices determine how products are designed and brought to market. The supply chains are long and opaque, and production takes place at the expense of people, animals and nature. This also applies to the production of leather.

As a result, the leather industry is often criticised for its non-transparent global supply chains, the use of harmful chemicals during tanning and critical working conditions, particularly in the Far East.

We are proof that things can be different - regional, sustainable, transparent.

The origin of all leather is an animal that has been slaughtered for meat. However, due to a lack of demand for leather, many hides are discarded - hundreds of thousands a year in our region alone. The growing demand for "vegan leather" (artificial leather) is further fuelling this trend. In a world where resources are becoming increasingly scarce, nothing makes more sense than using these circular and natural materials - rather than disposing of them.

Our values

We are committed to the respectful use of existing resources. And for animals being valued as our ancestors were.

We are committed to a more conscious and sustainable use of leather, focusing on animal welfare, regionality and transparency. We only use hides from animals that have been treated with respect and have lived a good life on a regenerative, organic or biodynamic farm. We do not support factory farming.

We promote traditional crafts and the preservation of local knowledge by establishing and maintaining regional value chains. Our partners include farms, meat producers, regional butchers, abattoirs, tanneries and manufacturers.

We are committed to transparency in the production of leather. Disclosing our entire manufacturing process and communicating every step of the supply chain is a matter of course for us.

Our commitment

As a producer of leather, our activities are closely linked to farming and hunting. Through our work, we want to demonstrate and exemplify the links between agriculture, food and fashion.

We are actively involved in promoting agriculture with a future. We are a member of the association Agricultura Regeneratio (CH) and are in regular contact with many other players in the field of regenerative agriculture. We are co-founders of Fibershed DACH, an NGO that promotes regional, circular production of textiles and everyday products from natural fibres.

As a founding member of the Sustainable Leather Foundation, we are also internationally networked. We keep abreast of the latest developments, standards and certifications, new guidelines and legislation, and attend international trade fairs and conferences to learn, network and maintain contacts.

We are happy to share our knowledge, connect people and organisations and contribute to a more sustainable use of our resources. That is why we regularly give talks, run workshops and teach at universities.
