Our Selection

We produce a variety of different leathers from the skins of different animal species. (Almost) anything is possible to order. All our leathers are full-grain (aniline). We deliberately refrain from coating: natural characteristics remain visible in the leather and are considered by us to be a quality feature of plastic-free leather. However, coating is possible on request / order.

Whether you make clothing (jackets, pants), shoes (uppers, linings, midsoles and insoles, orthopaedics), bags, accessories (such as belts, jewelry, watch straps, bicycle seats and handles), furniture or even instruments (wind instruments): We have the right leather for you. Contact us for a non-binding inquiry.

On this page we give you a selection of the leather we offer. We also offer other colors. Feel free to send us an email if you would like to find out more.

We send leather samples at a price of 10.- €/CHF per sample plus shipping costs. Do you have any questions about our leather, would you like to order samples or commission a custom-made product? Get in touch with us!

Cowhide

Our cowhides are made from the hides of calves, young cattle, heifers, bulls, steers and suckler cows. Depending on the age of the animal, our cowhide is available in a thickness of 1.2-3.5mm. Cowhide is robust, very tear resistant and can be used for a wide range of applications.

Cowhides are large enough, 1.2-2.5m2, to be worked into larger areas. We produce them in halves, shoulders and croupons.

Goatskin

Goatskin is very durable and tear resistant, yet very supple. It has a distinctive, beautiful grain. Our goatskins have an average surface area of 0.6-0.8m2 and a material thickness of 1.2-1.4mm.

Our kid leather is an extremely strong, yet very fine and elegant leather. The grain is less pronounced than goatskin, but the backline is equally pronounced. Kid leather is available in a thickness from 0.6-1.0mm. It is relatively small, with an average surface area of 0.33-0.40m2.

Lamb nappa

We make leather from the skins of sheep that cannot be made into a cosy sheepskin. Sheepskin leather, better known as lamb nappa, is a very soft, delicate leather that is particularly suitable for clothing, bags and accessories. It has a slight stretch and is not very tear resistant - but that makes it all the more supple. Lamb nappa has a material thickness of 1.0-1.4mm and an average area of 0.6-0.8m2.

Deer and fawn leather - now available at Lokales Leder

Slight injuries will remain visible in the leather, making each piece unique. Deer leather is available in a thickness from 0.8-1.6mm and average 1.0-2.0m2 per piece.

Roe deer leather is a very soft leather with a supple, fine feel and slight stretch. Depending on the age of the animal, deer leather is between 0.8 and 1.4mm thick and has an average surface area of 0.6-0.8m2 per piece. Leather from animals that have spent their lives in the forest can have strong natural characteristics. Slight injuries remain visible in the leather, making each piece unique. Deer leather is particularly suitable for products where the fineness of the leather is important: be it a glove, a handbag or a garment.
